Matt found his calling in life at a young age. He got his first tattoo in the early ‘80’s and was tattooing professionally soon there after. His career started at a shop down at the jersey shore where he grew up. Matt’s name and artwork were soon spreading throughout New Jersey. They eventually caught the attention of one of the tattoo industries godfathers, TONY “THE PIRATE” CAMBRIA. In 1985 Matt got the chance of a life time, to work for one of the old school greats “THE PIRATE” and jumped at the chance and never looked back. Matt came up in the tattoo world learning the trick of the trade from most of the old school Coney island tattoo artists, like Tony Polito, Michaelangelo, Coney Island Freddy, Mike Perfetto and anyone else that regularly stopped by Tony’s Tattoo shop to hang out and tell stories of “the good ‘ol days”. Matt was taught the old way, everything from building tattoo machines, tubes, power packs, cutting stencils, mixing colors and everything in between, if you needed it you built it! This is where Matt tuned his skills, especially his SINGLE NEEDLE, fine line detailed work he has become know for. After almost ten years of tattooing with the pirate 7 days a week 12 hours a day matt left his mentors shop to work for his good friend of many years “JACKHAMMER” who was opening ANOTHER TATTOO SHOP in Bound Brook N.J. ANOTHER TATTOO SHOP opened in 1993 with MATT POPE at the helm. For fifteen years now Matt has successfully kept ANOTHER TATTOO SHOP thriving in great, cutting edge tattoo’s and community awareness, helping to educate people on everything from the tattoo industry to life in general. He leads by example. Matt specializes in making each and every client leave with a smile. He is highly skilled in all styles of tattooing and has 25 years of experience. There is nothing he can’t do!

An artist from birth, Tom spent his early years honing his skills on paper .Hanging out at the tattoo shop watching his parents getting tattooed. He would always ask Matt for advice, which he was always happy to give. As he grew as an artist he moved on to other mediums such as trains, walls, signs, shoes, shirts, or just about anything he could get his hands (paint) on. He did a brief stint at a tattoo shop near his home where he realized his calling in life but he knew he hadn’t found his home yet. In early 2003 Tom approached his original mentor, Matt Pope; about an artist position at ANOTHER TATTOO SHOP in bound brook N.J. Matt was more than happy to let him join the family. Under the helpful wing of Matt, Tom has taken great strides as an artist and continues to move forward by leaps and bounds as one of New Jersey’s premier tattoo artists. The five years Tom has been at ANOTHER TATTOO SHOP have secured not only a huge and loyal following for him they have secured a home.
